Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
Mbita Ferry Services continue to partner with the local community in various activities as a way of giving back to the society. Over the years the company has spent millions of shillings in community and CSR activities. Some of the key lines of partnership include

  • Sports activities

    Sponsoring teams, clubs and competitions to promote talent and cohesion

  • Education

    The company continues to sponsor by way of paying school fees some of the bright students through secondary school, colleges and universities;

  • Safety Gear

    The company provides branded vests, reflectors, umbrellas, to the public especially public transport sector and local vendors;

  • Cash Transfers to the Elderly

    The elderly enjoy cash support upon appealing to the company. Also the elderly and PWDs are sometimes given right of ride in our vessels.

RICRAF (RUSINGA ISLAND CULTURAL, RELIGIOUS AND ARTS FESTIVAL)

RICRAF is a unique CSR to the company. Annually, the company partners with the Rusinga Community to promote culture of the Rusinga People, their traditional way of life and sea going activities. The latest RICRAF was held in Ngodhe Island in December 2023 where the company partnered with the local community, the public and local leadership to ferry grader and excavator the Island and make motorable roads. Also to offer ferry transport between Rusinga and Ngodhe Island during the one-week event while also providing cash rewards and sponsorships.
